Galicia was once a province of Austria-Hungary before the dissolution of the country in 1918. Finding Galicia’s changing borders can be an interesting tourist experience and an exciting lesson in history of Eastern Europe. Since the end of World War 2, Ukraine’s western frontier near Lviv divides Galicia into its Ukrainian and Polish parts.
